Our WiOPS Member of the Month for November 2017 is Emily Medley. She grew up in Missouri and gained an appreciation for construction working with her dad on their historic house, which was her childhood home. She’s a part of the Hensel Phelps team and has 3 years’ industry experience. She is currently working in Irvine as an estimator but previously worked in the field in on a Kaiser Permanente Hospital in San Diego. Her favorite thing about construction is that industry is constantly evolving. She notes that she enjoys how every interaction or conversation is its own unique learning opportunity. She also adds “I have a great wealth of resources from my coworkers at Hensel Phelps, but I have also learned a great deal from our trade partners both in the field and in the office. Being able to understand perspective from subcontractors, engineers, and architects alike helps us all reach our common goal of putting quality work into place.” Her coworkers would describe her as someone who has a positive attitude, is always willing to help, and is a team player. When she’s not at work she enjoys paddle boarding and hiking.
Each year, we hope to challenge the organization to realize new goals and embrace greater missions for the group.
